We will ask you to tell us your monthly expenditure, so if you pay bills weekly, fortnightly, four weekly, quarterly (every 3 months), or 6 monthly, we will ask you to work this out as a monthly figure. Here’s how to calculate these figures

Weekly = multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12 to get the monthly amount.
Fortnightly = multiply the fortnightly amount by 26 then divide by 12 to get the monthly amount.
Four weekly = multiply the four-weekly amount by 13 then divide by 12 to get the monthly amount.
Quarterly = divide the quarterly amount by 3 to get the monthly amount.
Six monthly = divide the six-monthly amount by 6 to get the monthly amount.
Annually = divide the annual amount by 12 to get the monthly amount.

Rent - enter the monthly amount you pay towards rent or board payment.
Mortgage - enter the monthly amount you pay towards mortgage amount. If you have a joint mortgage and only pay part of the monthly mortgage, then tick the joint mortgage box.
Council tax - enter the monthly amount you pay towards council tax.
Electricity bill - enter the monthly amount you pay towards electricity bill.
Water bill - enter the monthly amount you pay towards water bill.
Gas bill - enter the monthly amount you pay towards gas bill.
Phone bill - enter the monthly amount you pay towards phone bill.
Food and groceries - enter the monthly amount you spend on food, cleaning and toiletries, newspapers and magazines, cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, laundry and dry cleaning, clothing and footwear, nappies and baby items, pet food.
Transport - enter the monthly amount you spend on public transport (work, school, shopping etc) other (e.g. taxis) car insurance, vehicle tax, fuel (petrol, diesel, oil etc), MOT and car maintenance, breakdown or recovery, parking charges or tolls.
